ENHANCE

Kinja'd!!!

And now for something completely different. Somewhere in the past few years I went from finding the newest member of the Sti family incredibly boring, to viewing it as one of my favorite current sedan designs. Also interesting is how unique it is. Try to think of another sedan that looks similar.

Kinja'd!!!

There isn’t one. It’s sharp and aggressive, without being over-the-top. It’s chiseled, but not folded-over origami death-by-a-million-creases. The front end is distinctive Subaru, with beautifully paired wheel and accent colors. Man. The more I look at this the more I like it.

Is this how it was with all the other generations? Hated and called ugly at first, until eventually they were beloved designs?

I think that’s an all road. The headlights are wrong for an outback.

I think the gc8 2.5RS was very pretty at first sight.  Bug-eye was one of those faster but uglier siblings.

There was a wonderfully built one floating around Craigslist about a year ago at a fair price. V8 rwd, all incredibly clean work and unnoticeable unless you saw the wide tires.

They need an STi swap and they're great.  The 22b is my dream collectors car.

There needs to be a shirt with a straight line going down that says “I like ‘em flat”.

The header I made at Cobb was great but killed the sound.  The car had to have nitrous to move.

I see them so often that they’ve sort of become commonplace to me, but yeah they aren’t bad looking (I never got why people were so up in arms about it when they came out) but they aren’t “oh wow” good-looking either. I think they have been helped by everything else coming out of japan turning into a disaster of excess creases and overall ugliness. If they had a hatch I may have bought one about a year ago, but that’s too much of a compromise to me.

Without the wing and the Sti badges (just a regular wrx) the current Gen just looks so bland. I have never felt like my Sti could use the wing to look good. For my '06, t he buldgy fenders and the lines of the car make it stand out on its own. The new car just looks too much like a Camry from the back and sides. I still love the car just because it's at its heart the same damn car as mine but the looks department doesn't do anything for me stock. I've seen modified ones that I really like but it's the same as the NC miata in that regard if that makes sense.
